Weather satellite images show the weather as it is as seen from space. These images give the most realistic impression of what the weather is like over any given region.

In some cases, images may be taken in infra-red, rather than visible light. Such images show the amount of water vapor (rain) in the atmosphere better than visible light images.

Online satellite images are harder to come across than weather forecast maps, so fewer are presented here. If you know of a source of such images for your area that's not included here, please contact me and let me know so I can add that resource.
